Author Guideline

Authors (Contributors) are the primary creators of content on ThaiOML.

  • Content Focus: Articles must cater to medical students.
  • Writing Style: You must adopt a high-yield, bulleted format: strictly use a bulleted hierarchy (no long paragraphs), bold key terms heavily, and organize disease articles using standard section headers (Introduction, Pathophysiology, Presentation, Evaluation, Treatment, Complications). Include high-yield facts specifically for the Thai National Licensing Exam (NL). Do not bold generic category labels (e.g., Mechanism, Causes, Symptoms, Presentation, Evaluation).
  • Language: Write the core content in English. Thai is permitted specifically for mnemonics.
  • Formatting & Visuals: All content is written in Markdown. Integrate clinical images and mermaid flowcharts directly within the relevant bullet points rather than in separate figure sections.
  • Metadata: Ensure you fill out the required YAML frontmatter fields (like type, specialty, and tags) via ThaiOML Studio.
  • Editorial Workflow: We operate on a multi-stage editorial workflow:
    1. Pitch: Start by creating a new article and filling out the Title and Abstract (a short list of the proposed content). Set the review_status to pitch. You do not need to write the full article yet.
    2. Approval & Drafting: An Editor will review the pitch. Once they set the status to accepted and assign reviewers, you may proceed to write the full article body. Update the status to drafting while working.
    3. Review: Once the draft is complete, set the status to in_review so the assigned reviewers can evaluate the clinical accuracy.
  • Licensing & Copyright: By submitting an article, you agree to the ThaiOML Contributor License Agreement (CLA) in the studio. You retain the copyright to your original work, but you grant the ThaiOML Project (and its legal successors or assignees) an irrevocable, non-exclusive right to distribute, modify, and sublicense your contribution (including for commercial use at our discretion). All public content is published under the CC-BY-NC 4.0 license.
